February 2012 Archives
Since the departure of Troy Johnson from the MT Football Equipment room Coach Stockstill has been looking for a new staffer to fill the role of organizing, ordering and handing out all the gear MT Football needs on a daily basis. This is a stressful position that often puts in long hours and must have meticulous attention to detail to make sure everything from travel equipment to workout gear is on time and exactly up to the specifications the team demands. After a national search it looks like he has found his man, Kortne Gosha. Welcome to the Blue Raider family Kortne! Bio by MT Athletic Communications-
Kortne Gosha is in his first season as the head equipment manager for the Middle Tennessee football program.
Gosha makes his way to Murfreesboro from Jacksonville State University
where he worked three years as an equipment manager. He served as the
Gamecocks student manager from 2007 until July 2011 before being hired
full-time in August 2011 as the coordinator of operations and
facilities.
In his full-time role at JSU, Gosha was the head equipment manager,
planned team travel, drafted athletic department apparel contracts,
served as camp director for summer camps, and coordinated use of
athletic facilities, student staff, and events.
During his time as a student at JSU, Gosha interned with the San
Francisco 49ers in summer 2008 while also picking up an internship at
the University of Alabama in 2007.
Gosha, who was an operations manager for the Sarrell Dental Center prior
to joining the Blue Raiders, is a member of the Athletic Equipment
Managers Association, the American Federation of Coaches Association,
and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Gosha earned his degree in political science from Jacksonville State in 2011 while also minoring in criminal justice.
Even though we actually have two more days of Mat Drills 2012, MT Athletic Communications just released a great video summary of the Mat Drill process and how these workouts have gone so far for the Blue Raiders. Thanks go out to Nathan Wallach and Erik Bartlett for the great footage on this video.
Middle Tennessee's baseball team started off their 2012 season this past weekend which means spring football practice is just around the corner. On a great side note the unsung heroes of MT Athletics are the grounds crews that work constantly to make sure that Blue Raider Athletics teams have the best playing surfaces available. They do a great job for the football program especially during the spring and summer months for prospect camps and our preseason camp.
MT Athletic Communications just did a cool time lapse video of the grounds crew installing the Blue Raider logo on the baseball field before this past weekend's home stand which highlights the great things our guys create.

Everyday the Blue Raiders finish Mat Drills with a tug of war contest
designed to get the competitive juices flowing and to build enthusiasm
and team work. This morning there was extra excitement in the air
because the first week of mat drills was coming to a close so all the
guys were fired up and ready to go this morning. The competition is
setup in a specific sequence, first is a offensive vs. defensive
position match-up (ex. def. line vs. off. line), second is group offense
vs. group defense (ex. QB,RB,WR vs SAF,CB,LB), and the last round is a
one on one match-up of one offensive player vs. one defensive player.
What is on the line you ask besides bragging rights and pride, well two
sets of our "4th Quarter" program which is a set of push-ups, sit-ups
and leg raises in a quick rotation.
The best match-up today was Redshirt Freshman-LB Christian Henry vs.
Senior-RB Benny Cunningham. Here is round one of the match-up, clearly a
decisive victory for Henry.
Several moments later the two had another epic match-up to help break-up a rare tie in the competition. Needless to say Cunningham stormed back to pick-up a huge win for the offense and the excitement shows.
